Acceptable Usage Policy

These are the terms for using itprofessor.cloud. The site is run by me, Bartosz Wysocki, in the United Kingdom. By using it, you agree to them. The short version: use what you learn here at work, but don't resell it or pass it off as your own.

What you can do

  • Read, learn and share. Read anything on the site, and share links to it wherever you like.
  • Use the KQL and tools at work. You can copy, adapt and run the KQL queries, scripts, workbooks, Logic Apps and ARM templates in your own organisation's environments, including tenants you look after for clients. That's what they're for.
  • Quote with credit. You can quote short extracts or share a single query in your own post, talk or internal documentation, as long as you credit IT Professor and link to the original post.

What you can't do

  • Sell the content, or bundle it into a paid product, training course, query library or detection pack.
  • Republish full posts, or large parts of them, on another site, newsletter or platform.
  • Present the content, queries or images as your own work.
  • Reuse Profo or the other images without asking first.
  • Scrape or bulk-copy the site, including to feed AI tools or content farms.

Use it responsibly

The content is written to help defenders. Only run queries, scripts or techniques against systems you own or are authorised to monitor and test.

Everything here is provided as it is, for education. Microsoft changes its products often, so something that worked when I wrote it may behave differently in your tenant. Test in a non-production environment first, check costs before enabling anything that ingests data, and treat the content as a starting point, not a guarantee. I'm not responsible for losses, outages or charges that come from using it. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can't legally be limited.

Membership

There are two tiers:

  • Noob (free): every new post by email, plus access to all public posts and the KQL Vault.
  • Supporter (paid): everything in the free tier, plus commenting and direct email replies. Payments are handled by Stripe.

You can cancel a Supporter subscription at any time from the Account button at the top of the site. Your Supporter access then runs until the end of the period you've already paid for. If something has gone wrong with a payment, email me and I'll sort it out. None of this affects your statutory rights.

Comments

Disagreement is welcome; abuse isn't. Don't post spam, adverts, malicious links or code, other people's personal data, or anything illegal. I may remove comments that break these rules, and close accounts that keep breaking them.

Everything else

  • The opinions on this site are mine, not my employer's.
  • Links to other sites are there for convenience. I'm not responsible for what's on them.
  • If I change these terms, I'll update the date at the top. Significant changes for members will also go out by email.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
